Sports Medicine

Methodds works closely with worldwide renown sports organizations in order to improve the prognosis and understanding of injuries.

Case Example

Muscular injuries, especially hamstring injuries, are the leading cause of sick leave in football. Deciding when the player is ready to practice the sports, the Return-to-Play (RTP) is very complex due to the heterogeneity of injuries and varying recovery time. Therefore, by using a database of professional football players from FC Barcelona we analysed the factors driving the RTP and created a tool to accurately predict it.

We found that injuries affecting the free tendon and of Grade 3r in the MLG-R scale were associated with a longer RTP. The adoption of preventive measures to avoid injuries of this kind has to be a priority in professional football teams.

In Methodds we can help sports organizations such as clubs, sport clinics, or international entities to improve injury management.  We have experience in a wide range of sports such as football, basketball, rugby, baseball, tennis, or hockey. We help unlocking the full potential of the medical databases in order to prevent injuries, improve the management, and provide an accurate prognosis. By combining different data sources such as medical data as well as loading data derived from GPS systems, we can understand when players are at an increased risk of suffering an injury.
